The Fully Digital Pathology Laboratory
End-to-End Digital Pathology Solution
From slide labeling, staining, coverslipping and slide transport to scanning, quality control, upload, storage, reading, AI and archiving — KFBIO delivers one integrated, flexibly customizable solution that digitizes the entire pathology laboratory.
The complete chain
One integrated end-to-end solution
KFBIO provides the full set of hardware, software and AI needed to run a modern pathology laboratory — every step from the wet lab to AI-assisted diagnosis and long-term archive is connected and traceable.

Choose a fixed, all-in-one KFBIO line when you want a turnkey wet-lab-to-scan chain; choose a multi-island robot layout when you need flexible placement for new builds and small-to-mid size labs.
A single, hard-coupled production line that links KFBIO staining, coverslipping and scanning under one overhead transport path — short hand-offs and a highly standardized process.
- Full KFBIO wet-lab + scan stack from one vendor
- Mature, stable process path with minimal manual transfer
- Predictable quality for routine, continuous batches
- Throughput is capped by the fixed line design
- High floor-space / depth requirement for the full line
- Harder to rearrange once installed; less flexible for irregular rooms
A collaborative robot flexibly decouples coverslipper and scanner placement. Stations can be arranged as Dual-core / Quad-core / Eight-core islands instead of one long fixed line.
- Flexible floor plan — place modules where the room allows
- Ideal for new laboratories and small-to-mid size labs
- Scale by adding islands; retrofit existing Leica / Sakura coverslippers
- Needs robot integration and layout planning up front
- Best when space is limited or not a long linear bay
- Phased expansion instead of one single large line
PRX-S / M / L robotic scanning centers
- 1 robot arm loading 2 scanners
- Compact footprint for small / mid labs
- Continuous robotic slide loading
Each configuration uses one collaborative robot arm for continuous load / unload. The same robot platform can also retrofit hand-off from existing Leica / Sakura coverslippers into the digital line.
Step 4 · Digitization
A scanner for every scale and slide type
KFBIO scanners span from single-bench clinical units to unattended scanning centers. Match the model to your scenario today and scale up as you grow.
KF-PRX capacity & throughput
True to the microscope
ICC color correction — consistent, accurate color
Scanner color varies batch-to-batch, model-to-model and vendor-to-vendor. KFBIO applies ICC color correction based on standard color charts so digital slides faithfully reproduce what the pathologist sees down the microscope.
Step 5 · Image management
KF-DSMS — the cornerstone of digital image management
KF-DSMS is the digital slide management system that organizes, indexes and serves whole-slide images across the laboratory — the foundation the rest of the digital workflow is built on.
Step 6 · Storage
Storage tailored to your data and budget
Whole-slide images are large (1–3 GB each) and must be retained for 15–30 years. KFBIO offers a tiered storage strategy — from high-performance professional storage to an economical desktop option, and compatibility with mainstream cloud platforms.
Step 8 · Intelligence
KFBIO AI models — open to third-party AI
A growing portfolio of KFBIO in-house AI models runs directly on the platform, while an open interface lets you plug in third-party AI algorithms as well.
Plus an open AI interface to integrate external / third-party diagnostic models alongside KFBIO’s own.
Step 9 · Archiving
Archiving — physical and digital
Cases are archived both ways — the physical glass is stored for regulatory retention while the digital slide is indexed for instant electronic retrieval.

Typical deployment scenarios
The same modular KFBIO platform scales from a single-room lab to a fully automated, multi-site network. Three common configurations show how the pieces fit together — and how you grow between them.
